Marcell Swartz making a name for himself

“Dedication and hard work pays off” – these are the words of one of the younger FatTracks members who is making a name for himself in the world of MTB.

14-year-old Marcell Swartz recently claimed the title of SA XCO Champ in his age category AND the title of the SA Cup national series winner!

Marcell is no stranger to the podium however. This talented young MTB enthusiast took part in his first race at the age of eight. Since then, he has taken first place, and podium positions in a number of national XCO series and marathons.

You may have met him in the valley or at Crossways which he frequents on weekends. He also takes part in wheelie Wednesdays (which meets at Coimbra Cycle Centre), and takes his road bike out twice a week from the Figtree meeting spot.

“I enjoy the variety of trails in the valley and Crossways but would like to see more technical trails with B lines to simulate the national tracks,” says Marcell.
